Photonic Test Engineer
Join as a Photonic Test Engineer to build and optimize test solutions for III-V lasers, amplifiers, and modulators, advancing product quality and high-volume manufacturing.
As a Photonic Test Engineer, you will lead the development, industrialization, maintenance, and optimization of advanced test solutions for our III-V semiconductor products, including lasers, semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs), and modulators.
Working from product specifications, you will engineer robust test solutions tailored for both high-volume manufacturing (HVM) and extensive characterization of new products. Because our test solutions encompass both hardware and software domains, success in this role requires a strong, balanced blend of practical engineering expertise and theoretical knowledge.
Your responsibilities
Test Solution Engineering: Design integrated hardware and software test solutions for innovative III-V components, including semiconductor optical amplifiers (SOAs) and semiconductor laser sources.
Production Deployment: Implement test solutions within our production environment by leveraging our existing install base or evaluating and selecting best-in-class vendors.
Production Transition & Support: Supervise test solutions during the Start of Production (SOP) phase to ensure a seamless transition from engineering validation to full-scale manufacturing.
Optimization & Throughput: Continuously improve test methodologies to maximize manufacturing throughput while rigorously ensuring zero-defect quality delivery.
Measurement Systems Analysis: Execute Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA) and Gage Repeatability and Reproducibility (GR&R) studies to guarantee highly repeatable and reproducible test results.
Automation & Smart Manufacturing: Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on facility automation initiatives, such as the deployment of Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs) and Work-in-Progress (WIP) localizers.
Yield & Reliability: Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on manufacturing yield enhancement and product reliability.
Qualifications and Experience
Master’s degree or PhD in Photonics, Optical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or a related technical discipline.
Deep understanding of photonics theory, with specialized knowledge in III-V semiconductor devices like lasers, SOAs, modulators...
For a senior profile: 5+ years of hands-on experience in testing photonic devices, with a specific focus on III-V components such as SOAs and laser sources. For a junior profile: college grad is possible.
